Firstly, I want to wish you a happy new year! I hope you enjoyed the vacations :-)
This is my final blogpost entry of the blogproject.
Today I want to discuss the question whether Hannah's suicide is "justified" or not. In my opinion the question if a suicide is "justified" is not clear. Everyone's perception of reason to commit suicide is different. Everyone notices the incidents in individually ways, so everyone handles it differently.
For Hannah the incidents must have been so horrible. Maybe another person would have handled in a different way.
The opinion about suicide depends also on someone's health. It is possible that Hannah have had psychological problems like depression or something else. Who knows?
So it is still a step more difficult to judge the central question of this blogpost.
But back on Hannah and her reasons: I can understand her feelings and her thought about the persons and the happenings between them and Hannah, but I can't accept that suicide is the only solution for such a situation.
Hannah tried to find a solution, but maybe not hard and not strong enough. I know it is easy for me to say that, because I am not in her situation, but there must be other solutions. She could have gone to a psychologist or change the social environment and the school. Life is so precious...
But for Hannah her life was not any longer livable..
I think a meaningful reason is Justin Foley second reason, because for the first time Hannah felt guilty too. If you begin to hate yourself, life will be even more harder than it already is. So nothing remainded for Hannah which it is worth to fight for. She lost the believe and faith in herself.
I am not able to say who is the most guilty person. I think some persons are more guilty than others, for example in my eyes Jessica is more guilty than Zach, but in gerneral they are all guilty, also Hannah.
In conclusion I can say that Hannah's point of view is understandable, but whether it is "justfied" or not is for me not clear. I never was in a situation like Hannah, so it is difficult for me to imagine how it feels and how I would handle it.

This blog entry is about Bryce Walker and the question whether he is to blame for Hannah's suicide or not.
This blog entry is about Bryce Walker and the question whether he is to blame for Hannah's suicide or not.
"I think it´s unfair of Hannah to accuse him, to
make him one of “her reasons”. He had sex with her, big deal. It´s not like he
raped her. Bryce is not to blame for Hannah´s suicide."
Here is a quote from my teacher, so you can get to know his opinion.
I am not able saying whether I agree with him or not. I think the question whether he is to blame for Hannah's suicide or not is very difficult and not definite.
If I only consider Bryce Walker's behaviour and his personality (I got to know only one site of his personality, maybe he has other sites ;-) ) I can definitely say that he is a jerk with too much testosterone who treats women like sex objects. His behaviour towards Jessica Davis is -without a doubt- unacceptable and contumelious. He raped her. This is so disgusting and immoral. But at this point he did nothing to Hannah in a direct way. So Jessica's rape is not directly related to Hannah's suicide.
In cassette 6 side B Hannah made direct contact with Bryce. The two had sexual contact in a hot tub at a party. Hannah didn't feel well while doing this, but she allowed it. Because Bryce probably doesn't have any knowledge of human nature and he can't interpret Hannah's signs, it seemed to him as it would please her. So in my opinion it is not his fault. Hannah could have said that she didn't want it.
But I am asking myself why she allowed it. Maybe she was looking for the final step to commit suicide. She treated this incident more as an occasion than a reason for her suicide. At the end she just waited for her downfall and she did nothing against it, because it was to late for her. Her decision has been made a while ago.
As a result, I tend to agreing with my teacher. Bryce is not to blame for Hannah's suicide in a direct way, but in a indirect: yes, of course. He should think a matter over his behaviour.

Hello everyone ! :-)
Today I want to broach the issue of Hannah's situation in cassette 5B.
Besides I think it is time to write about the message of the book and the intention of the author.
After Clay had left Hannah, she hid in a wardrobe, because Justin Foley and Jessica Davis, who was drunk, entered the room. Jessica was so drunk that she was not able to speak anymore and she laid on the bed. Nobody recognized that Hannah was in the same room.
Then the situation got out of control. A guy, named Bryce Walker, noticed Justin and Jessica being in this room. And of course he also noticed Jessicas drunken condition. Bryce Walker convinced Justin letting him into the room. And - what a surprise - Justin allowed it although he could imagine whereupon Bryce zeroed in.
Bryce Walker raped Jessica Davis and Justin Foley and Hannah Baker did nothing against it.
So I think this reason for Hannah to commit suicide is different from the other reasons, because for the first time Hannah feels very guiltily. When you begin to hate yourself, life will be even more harder then it already is. So tell me: What remained for Hannah ?
I think the question is already answered : Nothing.
Let's come to my second topic in this blog post entry. What is the author trying to tell us?
As you probably already know is the author's name 'Jay Asher'. I was asking myself what he motivated to write '13 reasons why'. Maybe he was bullied in school or he thought about suicide. I researched information about him at the internet and I found out that he has a close relative who attempted suicide when she was a junior in high school. Asher was inspirated by an audiotour and his idea of the book came up while he was in a museum.
I think Asher wants to tell us the fact that we do affect each other in ways we can't predict. He appeals to act consciously.
I hope so much that everyone who reads this book learns to act responsibly and not to look away when he sees a person which is in a suicidal mood.
But let's face it!
'The Bryces' in this world don't read such books. So I support reading this book in school, because then the persons who are like Bryce are constrained to read it.
Maybe the world would be a better place if everyone read '13 reasons why' and thought of his behaviour.
In this spirit I would like to quote Jay Asher from the perspective of Hannah :
"A lot of you cared, just not enough."
"No one knows for certain how much impact they have on the lives of other people. Oftentimes, we have no clue. Yet we push it just the same."

Today I want to comment Ryan Shaver's behaviour which is the eighth reason for Hannah's suicide.
Ryan Shaver is a very cruel person, he is a 'weasel'. He is known for being the editor of the school's 'Lost-N-Found Gazette'. I think the idea of this gazette is already very stupid.
I can understand Hannah's behaviour and her wish to confide in someone. Ryan understood her poem and I think this was hopeful for Hannah.
But then the turningpoint came up and Ryan destroyed Hannah's hope, her pleasure in poetry and her privacy.
In my opinion Ryan should shame for stealing Hannah's poem and for publishing it in the school's 'Lost-N-Found Gazette'. Ryan destroyed the trust and faith between Hannah and him. He is very egotistic and he just saw his own advantages. But he is not the only guilty person, the other pupils are guilty, too. It is the same schema as always. We know it: 'the snowball effect'. Ryan was the activator, the behaviour of the other pupils were the consequences. Their fault was making fun of Hannah's poetry. They didn't get the meaning and seriousness behind it.
It was so hard for Hannah. Everything what is important in life was taken away from her: her friendships, her safety, her privacy, her interests and so many other things... I can imagine that you think about commit suicide when you are at this point, when nothing gives you a reason for continuing.
So I am beginning to understand Hannah's reasons for suicide.

Hello everyone!
In this blog entry I am going to write about Hannah's motivation for her suicide.
Hannah often talks about the snowball effect. This keeps the problems and reasons for suicide rolling, because one reason is based on another and so on...
The biggest problem of this snowball effect is that everyone just have a "little" joint guilt which leads to Hannah's disaster. Nobody knows instantly his or her mistake relating to Hannah and nobody is feeling very guilty about his or her fault, because there are a hundred of other reasons for Hannah's suicide. Probably this is why most of the people on the tapes are surprised to be one of the thirteen reasons or they think that they don't belong on the tapes like Marcus Cooley.
Maybe Hannah wanted to set a "statement", a message to everyone in her social environment. But is this message worth to put one's life on the line? I think no. I can understand Hannah and her reasons. She goes through a really hard time. But there are so many things in life for what it is worth to fight for. For example Hannah's family or her future. Maybe she could have found her dreamjob or met the love of her life or gotten to know real friends or built an own family. This are all arguments with a big " maybe", but they are not impossible.
But Hannah was not egotistic and she thought about the necessary change in the actions of the society. I think Hannah sacrificed herself, because she wanted to reach a changing in the crowd. The people need this shocking act, because otherwise they don't get it. It was very clever to send this self - made tapes to some persons. The advantage is that the affected people realize and understand what they have done.
In my opinion it is a shame that the crowd needs Hannah's death for this. Clay begins to understand Hannah and the pretense of the society.
I think Hannah deserves much respect because of her intelligence and her courage.

Stalking / Cassette 2B
Hello everyone!
Today I am writing about Tyler's behaviour and stalking in our lifes.
I can absolutely understand Hannah's fourth reason to commit suicide. It must be a really awful situation and I can not imagine having a stalker.
The people on the cassettes destroyed many things in Hannah's life. The only thing which stayed at her was her privacy. But now Tyler also take this from her...
I think Tyler's behaviour is a very extreme type of stalking, but in my opinion stalking becomes important in our lifes too. We are controlled by many people. The best example is Whats app, because everyone is able to see if you were online and so on...
I know that this is not comparable with Tyler's stalking, but it is a reduced way of stalking too. So it is important to care about our privacy and it is necessary to let the others be !! Everyone deserves privacy, safety and freedoms.
As a result, I expect Tyler learning his lesson and I hope he will never do something like this. I wish the world to respect the privacy of other people.

A list with consequences / Cassette 1B
Hello everyone!
In this blogpost, I am going to write about the happening between Alex Standall and Hannah Baker. Hannah explained it to the reader on cassette 1B.
Firstly, I want to criticize that Alex created this list. He just wanted to show up another person, so he had the stupid idea of constructing a list with the title "Who is hot/Who not". The person, named Jessica, who was shown up by him, was placed on the "not hot" side. So Alex had to chose another person for the other side. The question is: Why did he choose Hannah? Maybe he thought that he had done Hannah a favor, but he was wrong. The list became a horror for her and one of the reasons for killing herself.
I can absolutely understand Hannah's feelings, because who likes it to be reduced on one's ass?
But in Hannah's life it was the truth. Everyone paid attention to Hannah's ass, but nobody knew her real personality. I strongly detest this superficiality. So it is not only Alex' fault, the other pupils behaved in a badly way, too. But Alex was the activator of this superficially image of Hannah.
In conclusion, I want mentioning that everyone had to behave responsible. So it is always better to think about the consequences before acting. In addition, it is never good to be superficial...
